จีเอ็ม ประเทศไทย เดินหน้าเต็มสูบ พร้อมขยายการดำเนินงาน



กรุงเทพฯ : บริษัท เจนเนอรัล มอเตอร์ส (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด ฉลองการลงนามในสัญญาข้อตกลงการสนับสนุนด้านเงินทุนจากสามสถาบันการเงินชั้นนำของประเทศ พร้อมประกาศเดินหน้าสานต่อสามโครงการสำคัญ มุ่งเสริมสร้างการเติบโตของจีเอ็ม และเชฟโรเลต ในประเทศไทย และภูมิภาคอาเซียน



นอกเหนือจากการสนับสนุนในด้านเม็ดเงินลงทุนในโครงการต่างๆ แล้ว สถาบันทางการเงินทั้ง 3 แห่ง ยังสนับสนุนด้านเงินทุนหมุนเวียนอีกด้วย โดย เจนเนอรัล มอเตอร์ส คอมพานี ให้การสนับสนุนเพิ่มทุนการจดทะเบียนให้เป็นจำนวน 3,890 ล้านบาท (หรือราว 118 ล้านดอลลาร์) ทำให้เงินสนับสนุนรวมทั้งสิ้นอยู่ที่ 15,000 ล้านบาท ทั้งนี้ เงินทุนดังกล่าวจะพัฒนาโครงการหลักสามโครงการที่มีความสำคัญยิ่งของ จีเอ็ม ประเทศไทย คือโครงการพัฒนารถปิกอัพสายพันธุ์ใหม่ โครงการผลิตรถเอนกประสงค์รุ่นใหม่ และโครงการก่อสร้างโรงงานผลิตเครื่องยนต์ดีเซลแห่งแรกของภูมิภาคอาเซียน ซึ่งจะเริ่มดำเนินการผลิตได้ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2554 - 2555 บนพื้นที่กว่า 440 ไร่ ของจีเอ็มที่จังหวัดระยอง โดยการก่อสร้างโรงงานได้เริ่มดำเนินการไปแล้วตั้งแต่เดือนพฤศจิกายน 2552 ที่ผ่านมา



สถาบันการเงินที่ให้การสนับสนุนเงินทุนจำนวนรวม 13,500 ล้านบาท (หรือราว 409 ล้านดอลลาร์) ได้แก่ธนาคารกรุงเทพ ธนาคารไทยพาณิชย์ และธนาคารทิสโก้ โดยมี บมจ.หลักทรัพย์บัวหลวง เป็นที่ปรึกษาและดำเนินการเพื่อขอการสนับสนุนเงินทุนในครั้งนี้

มร. สตีฟ คาร์ไลส์ ประธานกรรมการ บริษัท เจนเนอรัล มอเตอร์ส (ประเทศไทย) และบริษัท เชฟโรเลต เซลส์ (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด กล่าวว่า “การลงนามสัญญาสนับสนุนเงินทุนในครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นความสำเร็จครั้งสำคัญในประวัติศาสตร์ของจีเอ็ม ประเทศไทย ที่เราสามารถหาแหล่งเงินทุนภายในประเทศด้วยตนเอง พร้อมประสานความสัมพันธ์อันดีกับสามสถาบันการเงินที่แข็งแกร่ง และมีความสำคัญมากที่สุดของประเทศไทย”

สถานการณ์กำลังปรับตัวดีขึ้นเมื่ออุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์เริ่มมีสัญญาณการฟื้นตัวที่ดี พร้อมกันกับการที่ จีเอ็ม ประเทศไทย มีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะขยายธุรกิจให้เติบโตมากขึ้นตามแผนงานตั้งแต่ปี 2553 นี้เป็นต้นไป กอปรกับอัตราการส่งออกที่ปรับตัวสูงขึ้นตลอดช่วงไตรมาสสุดท้ายของปี 2552 จึงส่งผลในเชิงบวกอย่างต่อเนื่องมายังปี 2553 นี้

General Motors Thailand Accelerates Expansion Plans



Bangkok: General Motors Thailand (GMTH) celebrated an official agreement to secure investment funding with three leading local financial institutions, enabling it to proceed with three very important programs, contributing to further growth of GM and the Chevrolet brand in Thailand and the ASEAN region.



In addition to project funding, working capital credit lines have also been secured. Out of the total required investment, estimated to be THB15 billion, General Motors Company (GMCo) has contributed THB3.89 billion (USD118 million) via equity injection, while the balance of the remaining required capital is now available from three local banks. The funds will be channeled to three of GMTH’s most important growth initiatives, namely the next-generation pickup truck, pick-up-derived SUV and new diesel engine plant which will be implemented over the 2011-2012 timeframe at GMTH’s 440 rai plant in Rayong. The plant construction has already resumed since November 2009.



The loan syndication facility agreement amount is THB13.5 billion (USD 409 million) arranged by Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank and Tisco Bank. Bualung Securities was a financial advisor who has pulled together the consortium of the 3 banks.

Steve Carlisle, President of GMTH/ASEAN and Chevrolet Sales Thailand (CST), said, “The signing of this agreement represents a significant milestone in the history of our company. We are now completely self-funded in Thailand and have established relationships with three of the strongest and most important banks in Thailand.”



“These relationships will last a lifetime and I am confident GM’s corporate culture and business results will earn the respect of our new partners. We are grateful to them for the support they have provided,” Carlisle added.



He continued, “We must place our customers at the centre of everything we do, and run an efficient and profitable operation in which our customers get the best cars and trucks. These will help us generate positive returns on the investment, I promise”.



The turning point comes at a time when the automotive industry has begun to show signs of stabilization. It also follows GMTH’s positive outlook for 2010 and beyond, especially since demand in exports has picked up in the last quarter of 2009 and are showing signs of continued strength moving forward to 2010.

Bangkok Bank President Chartsiri Sophonpanich said the bank is delighted to take part in providing this financial support to General Motors (Thailand). “This new investment has reflected the company’s confidence in the potential of the Thai automotive industry, and the opportunities for Thailand from regionalization, especially through the implementation of the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and the ASEAN Economic Community.



“For more than 16 years, General Motors has played a significant role in the Thai economy, particularly in growing the export value of the automotive industry. Bangkok Bank is pleased to have been involved in this major decision by General Motors. Mr. Suthas Ruangmanamongkol, President, TISCO Bank Plc. said: "Today, it is not only retail clients and dealers of Chevrolet that TISCO support, now we also have the opportunity to join the loan syndication facility to GM group. We are proud to be a part of this facility agreement to support GM's bold step in its business expansion here in Thailand. This will help establish our country as a leading commercial vehicles production base in this region."
